I am full professor and researcher in the Department of Information Theory and Management at the Information Science School – Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG).
Prior to joining Information Science School, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Computer Science Department at UFMG, Brazil, a leading research group on Computer Science in Latin America.
I am currently spending a sabbatical year in the Tetherless Word Constellation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, pursuing research on semantic web, ontologies and natural language processing.
I was the organizer of the VI Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil (ONTOBRAS, 2013).
I am a member of the Editorial Board of several journals in the area of Information Science.
Before joining the academic life at UFMG, I worked as an entrepreneur, having launched a startup that developed a Java web based service to automate the credit analysis process using first-order logical decision tree for some financial institutions.
