Knowledge Management and Organization
I am a full professor and researcher with the Department of Information Theory and Management, School of Information Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in SE Brazil.
My current research interests include knowledge representation, ontologies, web science and semantic web, information integration, and semantic interoperability.
I hold a Doctoral degree in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier II, in France. I also have a Master in Mathematics and Advanced Studies in Informatics from Université d’Aix Marseille II, also in France.
Before joining Information Science School, I was a postdoctoral fellow with the Computer Science Department at UFMG, a leading research group on Computer Science in Latin America.
During 2017/18 I spent a sabbatical year working with Deborah McGuinness at the Tetherless World Constellation Lab.
Between 2013 and 2016, I coordinated an R&D project in Records Management for CEMIG (cemig.eci.ufmg.br), one of largest power generators and distributors in Brazil being responsible for 12% of the national distribution.
I have experience in the areas of Information and Computer Science, working mainly with ontologies for knowledge and information management.
In the field of semantic web and information systems, I have served as an organizer and program committee member for major conferences in Brazil, such as ONTOBRAS (Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil) and CONTECSI.
I am a member of the Editorial Board of several journals in the area of Information Science.
